The Carnival of Mindelo will count, in 2019, with another group to brighten even more the feast of King Momo. "Estrelas Do Mar" returns to the sambodromo after seven years of absence in "force" and in the year in which it celebrates the 45 years of existence. A return to stay promises the direction that guarantees originality and many surprises.
Luís Gonçalves, president of the group said that the stars of the sea will bring art and culture to the carnival of Mindelo.
"São Vicente can count on a sea of carnival in 2019. Let's go out in this carnival, to show art and culture. It is the biggest cultic manifestation of Cape Verde and we have a huge responsibility, as we always have. We are here to compete despite many years away from the asphalt. But getting out and putting the group on the street is a dream come true "admits the direction that knows" to win stars of the sea will be difficult. "
The grpup makes history at the Mindelo carnival since 1974 when it first came out. The life of the "Estrelas Do Mar" in the Mindelense carnival was however marked by some absences. The last appearance of the group in the carnival parade of Mindelo was in 2012.
