2 days trip São Vicente – Santo Antão
Two in islands for the price of one!!!
Once visiting São Vicente and the cultural capital of Cape Verde Mindelo – it’s a MUST to see also neighbouring island of Santo Antão located only 10 km over the Mindelo bay. This green paradise will amaze you by its beauty and landscape diversity. Santo Antão is having a lot of rain, once being the mountain island covered by forests, various plantations, magnificent valleys and breath-taking views. You will visit also a distillery of Cape Verdean most famous drink - "grogue", made by sugar cane (February - June). Be ready with your camera, because you will be not able to stop shooting one of the best pictures from your holiday on Cape Verde.

Details of your journey to green paradise:
Afterwards, we will give you a very detailed map of Mindelo City + she will give you all possible recommendation and tips, what to do. At 07:30 a.m. on following day she will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the harbour, where the ferry (leaving at 08:00 am) will take on hour to reach the island of Santo Antão, called by the locals “Ilha das Montanhas” = Island of the Mountains and considered by majority of the tourist as a most beautiful island of the archipelago. Our guide will welcome you at the harbour of Porto Novo and let the adventure begin! One of the highlights is the mountain road called “Estarda de Corda”. It took more than 13 years in the 60’s of the last century to build 34 km long road connecting the south and the north coast. Stopping at Pico da Cruz (1.550 m) to make a short walk into the pine forest, enjoying incredible scenery over Cova volcano crater with its colourful agricultural fields, we will be amazed by incredible views over the canyons at Cha de Mato. Then we will visit the town of Ribeira Grande with its colonial architecture that used to be economical and cultural capital of the island. From there the road will lead us to Vila das Pombas – the entrance gate of the greenest valley of the archipelago. Driving up among sugar cane fields and fruit-tree plantations / mango / papaya / banana / etc … we will stop for 3- course lunch at an ECO-farm (all drinks paid on the spot).
Before heading back to the harbour via newly build coastal road, we will visit a distillery and taste the famous local rum called “grogue”. The ferry will get us back to Mindelo at 06:00 pm and we say “bye-bye” after transferring you back to your hotel.
